Make Your Big Day Perfect With a Wedding Smile Makeover

Make it count!

Weddings are one of those special events that many women think about way before they ever get engaged. Every detail, like where they want to get married and hold their reception, what their flowers look like, and of course, their wedding gown are often part of a young girl’s dreams. As adults, the seemingly unending list of tasks leading up to the special day can be exciting and overwhelming, not to mention expensive.

Even though it may seem like it’s over in the blink of an eye, the memories created are captured by pictures and videos. In fact, many people will be photographed more on their wedding day than any other day in their life. But if you have less-than-perfect teeth, smiling all day and night may be the last thing you want to do.

Fear not. Kavitha Gowda, DDS, and our professional dental team at Perfect Smiles Dentistry have some thoughts on how to make your day perfect with a wedding smile makeover.

First of all, it’s not just the bride that’s expected to smile in all those photos and videos. Listen up grooms. This is an excellent time for you to tweak your smile as well. We offer some awesome services that not only help brides and grooms get the smile they always wanted, but also gain the confidence you only get when you know you look great.

Brighten up your smile

One of the simplest procedures that creates a big impact is teeth whitening. We offer in-office Zoom teeth-whitening as well as custom tray teeth whitening where you do one session in the office and follow-ups at home. Zoom is a laser teeth-whitening process that lasts about an hour. It typically starts off with a professional cleaning. With Zoom, we apply a special hydrogen peroxide gel that is activated by a laser, which breaks up stains. Zoom typically whitens your teeth by several shades in one session.

Custom-fitted, in-office teeth whitening is a more gradual teeth-whitening process. First, we take impressions of your teeth so that we can create trays that are personalized for you.

Once the trays are created, we walk you through the first session in the office. A bleaching agent is added to the custom trays, and you insert the trays over your teeth. We create a treatment plan based on your desired results, so you’ll know the proper amount of whitening agent to use and how long to wear them per session.

Fix up those chips, cracks, and gaps

Bonding and veneers are two cosmetic dentistry procedures that can clean up those gaps, cracks, and chips as well as fix tooth discoloration. Both bonding and veneers are made of material that match your natural teeth.

Bonding is great for doing minor restorations. With bonding, a resin material is painted on the surface of your tooth, cured with a special light, and shaped so it looks like your natural tooth.

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are especially created to restore the imperfection and are adhered to the front surface of your tooth. Dr. Gowda guides you on what procedure is best for you based on your desired outcome.

Start early with teeth straightening

If your teeth are crooked and you’ve been meaning to get braces, depending on your wedding timeline, it still may be possible. There are a variety of adult teeth-straightening services that can make a huge difference in your smile. We offer the Invisalign clear plastic aligners treatment.

Invisalign is ideal for minor-to-moderate misalignments. There are two key pluses with Invisalign — appearance and timing. The treatment process involves wearing a series of clear aligners that gradually straighten your teeth in about half the time as traditional braces. Just think, you can straighten your teeth for your big day, and nobody will know unless you tell them, and you can do it in half the time.
