A BRILLIANT AND NATURAL LOOKING SMILE WITH DENTAL VENEERS

Nothing is more appealing in a person’s appearance, than a beautiful, white smile. Not only it can make you look more attractive, but it has also proven to be a key to success in professional life. If you are one of 90 % Americans, believing that a perfect smile can improve your quality of live and you have discolored, uneven, or just plain unattractive teeth, you can simply enhance your smile by covering up your imperfect teeth with paper thin, attractive dental veneers.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers (also known as porcelain veneers or porcelain laminates) are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-

colored dental porcelain, designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Apart from porcelain, dental veneers can be made from resin composite materials. However, porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth.

When do I need a dental veneer?

Veneers can improve the color, shape and position of your teeth. Your Everett dentist may use one veneer to restore a single tooth that may have been fractured or discolored, or multiple teeth to create a “Hollywood” type of smile.

Many people have small teeth resulting in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Others, have worn away the edges of their teeth resulting in a prematurely aged appearance. Multiple veneers can close these spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, fill gaps between teeth and provide a uniform color, shape, and symmetry. Dr. Gowda from Perfect Smiles Dentistry, Everett also recommends using thin porcelain veneers to strengthen worn teeth or cover yellow teeth that won’t whiten.

How are teeth prepared for dental veneers?

In many cases, minimal to no tooth preparation is needed when using porcelain veneers. Some of the outer enamel surface of the tooth may be removed, to make sure that the veneer can be bonded permanently in place. The amount of enamel removed is tiny and will be the same as the thickness of the veneer to be fitted, so that the tooth stays the same size. The color of the surrounding teeth is matched on a shade guide to make sure that the veneer will look entirely natural.

What are the benefits?

The benefits of porcelain veneers are many, but the most important ones are the following:

• Veneers look absolutely natural

• Your natural teeth remain almost intact with only a minimal amount being altered to fit the veneers

• Fast treatment and immediate results ( compared to orthodontic treatment)

• Veneers do not change color over time and are stain-resistant

• Veneers are durable and long-lasting – at least a decade

Veneers can really create a flawless and naturally looking smile. However, in order to achieve the best results, be sure to get a professional assessment from a proven dental specialist, who would help you choose the best solution for you needs. Dr. Gowda from Perfect Smiles Dentistry, Everett, has a great dental experience and can easily correct everything you dislike about your smile.
